Terms of service

Last updated 27 August 2026

These terms apply to your use of the My Geocode API at api.mygeocode.com, the drop-in compatibility hosts under mygeocode.com, the JavaScript loaders, the dashboard and this website (together, the service). By sending a request to the service you agree to them. If you are using the service on behalf of a company, you confirm you can bind that company.

1. The service

My Geocode provides lookups over HTTP: forward and reverse geocoding, address autocomplete, IPv4 and IPv6 geolocation, timezone, elevation and postal code lookup, and hosts that answer in the formats of other providers' APIs. We may add, change or retire endpoints. Retirements of a versioned endpoint are announced in the changelog at least six months in advance.

2. Free use

You may use the service without an account. Free use is limited to 2,500 requests a day per IPv4 address or per IPv6 /40 block, counted across all endpoints and hosts, resetting at 00:00 UTC. Free use is subject to burst limits and to these terms. We do not promise that free requests will be served during periods of overload; paid traffic is served first.

3. Accounts, keys and whitelists

To use more than the free allowance you need an account. Creating one requires an email address and nothing else. Usage is attached to your account either by whitelisting IP addresses in the dashboard or by sending an API key. You are responsible for all usage under your keys and from your whitelisted addresses, including usage you did not intend, until you revoke the key or remove the address.

An API key may be used from at most two distinct IP addresses in any 24 hour period. On the Unlimited plan this limit applies to the account as a whole, across keys and whitelisted addresses. Requests from further addresses are refused. Keys must not be published in client-side code or public repositories. If you learn that a key has been exposed, revoke it.

4. Plans, prices and payment

Prices are shown on the pricing page. Every account receives the same 2,500 free requests a day as anonymous use, counted across all keys and whitelisted addresses, after which:

What counts as a request is set out on the pricing page. Requests refused with 4xx status codes and requests that fail with 5xx status codes are not counted. Prices exclude taxes. Cryptocurrency payments are converted at the rate shown at checkout and are final once confirmed on the network. Unused credits bought by card can be refunded on request within 90 days of purchase, minus payment processing fees; credits bought in cryptocurrency are not refundable. We may change prices with 30 days' notice by email; changes do not apply to credits already bought or to a paid Unlimited period already under way.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

We may throttle, suspend or terminate access that breaches this section, with notice where practical.

6. Results and data

You may store, cache, display and combine the results you receive, in your own products, indefinitely, including on maps from other providers. Attribution is not required. Subject to section 5, results are yours to use. The underlying datasets, the service software, the response formats we author and the website content remain ours or our licensors'.

Parts of our data are derived from OpenStreetMap, which is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License. Where you display our map tiles you must show the attribution the loaders and styles include.

7. Drop-in compatibility hosts

The compatibility hosts accept requests in the formats of, and answer in shapes matching, APIs published by Google, Microsoft, HERE, Mapbox, Geocode.Farm, the OpenStreetMap Foundation and others. Those names and formats belong to their owners. My Geocode is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a reseller of any of them, and the data returned by the compatibility hosts is ours, not theirs. You are responsible for ensuring that your own agreements with those providers do not prohibit you from switching.

8. Availability and changes

We aim for the service to be available continuously and publish status information, but we do not guarantee availability or any particular accuracy of results on self-serve plans. Geocoding is an estimate. Do not use results as the sole basis for decisions where an error could cause injury, loss or legal consequences, such as emergency dispatch, without independent verification.

9. Privacy

Our privacy policy explains what we log and why. In short: request logs including IP addresses are kept for 30 days for rate limiting, abuse prevention and debugging, then deleted; aggregate counts are kept for billing.

10. Warranties and liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties, and our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service in any twelve month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Termination

You can close your account at any time from the dashboard; outstanding usage is invoiced. We can terminate or suspend accounts that breach these terms, and can withdraw the service as a whole with six months' notice. Sections 6, 7 and 10 survive termination.

12. General

These terms are the whole agreement between you and My Geocode about the service. If part of them is unenforceable, the rest still applies. They are governed by the law of the country in which My Geocode is incorporated, as stated on your invoices, and disputes go to the courts there. We may update these terms; material changes are announced by email to account holders and in the changelog 30 days before they take effect.
